Keep off the Grass by Karan Bajaj

I have been off this site for quite sometime now. Long time....given me enough time to read lots of books.
Enchantress of Florence by Rushdie, volume 2 and 3 of Ponniyin Selvan, half way through Up Country by DeMille. I also happened to lay my hands on a soon to be released book by a first time Indian author.

Karan Bajaj's 'Keep off the Grass' starts off seeming to be another campus book - the author's background ( IIM and investing banker based in the US) making me believe this can't be much different from the other's in the genre. I was right to some extent and wrong to a large extent.

The protoganist is a hot shot investment banker living the great American dream. He decides to throw this all away and go to India and acquire for himself an MBA from the IIM. Samrat finds himself, from the plush office and spacious apartment in New York, on the potholed, mind bloggingly jammed streets of Bangalore on his way to the prestigious IIMB.

All this in the just about 25 to 30 pages. From the IIM, Samrat finds himself on a journey across India. Oh boy! Here's when the fun starts.A hiliarious look at some of the most intriguing practises of the country and the seemingly inexplicable behaviour of people. This is what differentiates this book from the other campus books - the author does not seem to pretend to write something profund.

Overall a fun read.No pretence no pun and stuff. A well woven storly line, not completly unbeliveable. Go for this book if you want to have a few good laughs.
